What Happens During a Veterinary Surgery
We strive to make the surgery process as comfortable and stress-free as possible for your pet. Surgery typically begins with a thorough pre-operative assessment of the animal. This includes a physical examination, blood tests, and imaging studies (if necessary) to ensure your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia and the procedure. Once cleared, the pet is prepared for surgery by administering pre-anesthetic medications to help them relax and provide pain relief. The surgical site is then shaved and cleaned to create a sterile field.
In the operating room, the veterinary team induces general anesthesia and monitors your pet's vital signs throughout the procedure. After the surgery is complete, the incision is closed with sutures or surgical staples. The pet is then moved to a recovery area where they’re closely monitored as they wake up from anesthesia.

Post-Surgery Care
After surgery, your pet will require special care to ensure proper healing. This typically includes pain management through prescribed medications, careful wound care to prevent infection, and follow-up appointments to monitor recovery progress. Your veterinarian will provide specific instructions tailored to your pet's needs, which may include restricted activity, special feeding guidelines, or the use of protective collars. Throughout this process, from pre-operative care to full recovery, the veterinary team at Fishers prioritizes your pet's safety, comfort, and well-being, ensuring the best possible outcome for your furry family member.
